List of possible genres

As the voting for the genre of the first ever story of write together has already been started, I have decided to write an article with a short explanation of the possible genres. I have tried to make a list of all the interesting categories, but if you want I can include others in the next voting.

Crime - a crime story or a book is about a crime that is already done or will be done in the future. The crime can be a murder, robbery or even a crime in gangster story. Typical characters are normal people.

Western - this is famous category that comes for a time in the past. The story develops in USA, when there were cowboys, indians, sheriffs and little towns. Usually in the development there are a lot of skirmishes, bars and rides. Typical characters are cowboys and indians.

Action - as the name tells, this genre is full of actions. The development usually happens around a main character, who falls into fights, explosions, skirmishes and other situations. The action movies have the tittle "One that saves the world", because the main character always beats a lot of opponents and finally he save the world. Typical characters are very strong man or beautiful woman, who can beat or shoot opponents.

Science fiction -  a science fiction story usually develops around something from the universe, around some technology or other topic connected to cosmos. Typical characters are robots, ET or spaceman.

Adventure - an adventure story is about a main character who takes a long journey to distant places in order to complete a mission. Through the journey the character faces different obstacles and problems. Typical characters are persons from the past.

Comedy - the main purpose of comedy stories is to make the readers smile or laugh at least once. The development is full of funny moments, strange and disturbing situations. Typical characters are normal persons.

Fantasy - a fantasy tale comes for a magic or supernatural forces. The process usually follows some adventure, myth or legend. Typical characters are wizards, magical creatures or super heroes.

Romance - normally such a story involves a couple and the story develops around their relationships. The romance can be dramatical or a comedy. Typical characters are couples.

Slice of Life - this is a totally new genre which comes for a story that describe a portion of life. The typical characters are normal persons.

Thriller - this genre is about stories that mix fear, excitement and suspension. In all of the novels there is a mystery action, which causes the development. Typical characters are normal persons.

Drama - this genre develops mostly around realistic character problems, stories or emotional experiences. Books of this genre cause the reader to feel sympathy and  empathy  to the characters. Usually the characters are normal persons with problems.
